Hi Guys!
I have a ton of BB Creams to review...thought I should start with a fave - TheFaceShop Lovely Me-Ex BB Cream. I have 4 in my stash and this has to be the most sought after, maybe because I have a specially attachment to it, this has been with me since day 1 :) I used up 10 tubes (or more) of this.
I started using this heaven sent cream even before I discovered makeup. I remember, I was just looking for a face product, 3 to 4 years ago, that is lighter than a foundation but would give me enough coverage. And then TADAAAA The FaceShop BB Cream happened.
I remembered (sorry this was 4 years ago ok? hahaha) the MaryKay foundation I borrowed from mama was running low, I needed a new one but I had no idea what and where to buy. SM Pampanga has TheFaceShop branch which showcases makeup and beauty products made all-natural (the interior design of the store made it look convincing! Aminin!) and since I'm afraid to use local brands that might harm my "youthful" skin, I went there and started my quest on finding the foundation of my dreams.
Basically, I asked the sales lady to suggest a good light weight foundation that will suit my lifestyle (yes nagkwentuhan kami). I told her all the liquid foundation qualities I was looking for. That time, I had no idea BB Creams exist. So she handed me their best selling BB cream, it was pricey! The freakin' product was almost P1,500.00. There's no way I will buy that. I told her "Ate, yung pang araw-araw lang pls." and then she handed me the holy grail Lovely Me-Ex.
Okaaay, it wasn't all that magical, the packaging of the Lovely Me-ex BB cream was rather cheap. It was wrapped in a plastic, almost like a cling wrap. It had no box and no pump what-so-ever. Very very far from the expensive BB Cream she was handling me before...but the wallet speaks. I gave it a go and it changed my life for good! ;)
To think about it, I really never "thoroughly" thought of the effects the BB Cream gave me, just now because I'm going to do a review. Maybe it wasn't the "life saver" I thought it was...well let's discover together.
Where to Buy: Any TheFaceShop branch. I don't see any online Korean shops selling this. It's fairly inexpensive so it is impractical to order online.
Price: P295.00, better deal than P1,500.00 right?
Amount: 40ml, contains more than the usual 30ml liquid foundation
Packaging: The packaging was ok, hmm maybe 7 out of 10. I have way more BB creams that have better packaging. It doesn't have a pump, it came with a squeeze bottle. Problem comes when you're running low but you wanted to "squeeze out" more products, just like toothpaste (partly because you're denial that it's almost gone hahaha). Trust me, I had 10 plus plus of these and it's so hard to squeeze out when it's running empty.
Scent: Lotion-fresh scent. Definitely good! It smells like the usual face moisturizer and the smell fades away after application.
Application: Very smooth. you can use anything, sponge or face brush. I use my fingers because of its lightweight-ness, it's comfortable to apply with merely fingers (unlike thick foundations)
Coverage: Light to medium. Since it is not as thick as the regular liquid foundation, it doesn't cover imperfections that much. But it evens out skin tone, it can also cover slight blemishes. This is actually a good thing especially for those who wanted to keep it simple (to avoid "foundation-day-everyday" look)
Routine for the day: Office work, no travel. Minimum exposure to sun (max of 20 min sun exposure within the day)
Weather: Slightly cold, christmas-y feels. Noon is scorching hot still.
Functions/claims: Hmm back instructions are all written in Korean :( I can't read a thing. I might miss out few benefits. One thing is certain though...it has SPF 20, PA++. Anything with SPF is better especially in our country. BB Creams give more benefits than your regular foundation. They, in general, are more moisturizing, contains sun protection ingredients, lightweight definitely, some are anti-aging and they correct/hide blemishes hence the name BB cream (Blemish Balm).
Starting with the moisturizer of course :)
It is thicker/creamier than the others, it's not runny giving you more application control.
This side bare faced, still no BB cream. Visible redness (sides of the nose) and few blemishes. Pores are also visible (I did not use any primer in this review in order to test the real longevity of the product)
With BB Cream this time, reduced the redness and hides FEW blemishes. It also removed dry patches (not visible in the photo). The FaceShop BB cream is really moisturizing plus the fact that it actually smells like a lotion. But as you can see, it can't totally hide pimple marks because BB creams are not meant to give you full coverage.
Looking and feeling fresh. I, then, applied the rest of my makeup. Time check: 7:00 am :)
Checking in: Now 11:30 AM, before lunch time. I look oily in this picture but I don't feel like it. I don't feel oily nor sweaty...I don't actually feel anything in my face. It is really lightweight. Redness around the nose still covered, blush on still there :) I did no retouching...I blotted once.
Yep! Oil is present. There is NO PRODUCT IN THIS WORLD that could probably stop my oil problem but! there are those that can reduce them and this product is a proof. Middle part of the blotting sheet was oil filled but the sides and some parts in the middle...still clear whew!
You may ask, I magically had an eyeliner! Well, silly me, I forgot to take a last freakin' photo before washing it off my face...so I took this last one the day after, using the same product and the same process. Anyway, it is now 9:00 PM, right before I take a night bath. Redness around the nose now visible, blush also faded, the BB cream is barely there, it had actually faded. Well it was almost 14 hours after application so no wonder. No patchy-ness though or caking. I still feel good, I don't feel oily nor heavy. It is impressive.
Final thoughts: I was, am and will always be in love with this product. I love it so much that I stayed loyal for four years now. Now that I am discovering more bb creams, I still reach out for this one just cause it feels so familiar...I feel secured when I have this in my purse to be honest. I love it for many reasons:
1. It is budget friendly, 40 ml for P295.00...are you kidding? This will last you a good 4 months, used everyday.
2. It smells nice and fresh ;)
3. It is lightweight, dewy, yes, but moisturizing. For those who like to keep it matte, set it with powder.
4. It last for a good 6 to 8 hours depending on your activity. Office girl? You know what to do!
5. It minimized MY oil production, again this depends on the one using the product. For me, it worked even though it gave me a dewy finish.
6. I NEVER experienced any breakouts or irritations because of this product. I guess it suits all skin types (sorry, the instructions are in Korean huhu)
7. The packaging? I don't mind. Nice packaging means spending more.
Hope you find the review helpful. This is really a good product in general :) Try it and share your final thoughts with me.
Always remember, BE BEAUTIFUL, BE YOU!
Lots and lots of love,
Raisa
